ColourPop x Bitti Lip Trio Review & Swatches

Colour Pop Bitti Lip Trio ($18.00 for 0.3 oz.) includes three shades of the Ultra Blotted Liquid Lipstick formula, which I haven’t found much success with. I actually wish ColourPop had gone with their Lux Liquid Lipstick formula, which had a very similar effect but was more successful for me. Holly Lolly applied the best, while Chew-holic and Juicy Drop were very unforgiving of my lip texture/lip lines.

Chew-holic

Chew-holic is a bright, medium-dark pink-coral with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-sheer coverage, which was as expected, but the texture was very prone to clinging to imperfections and texture on my lips (despite exfoliating prior, and this was several shades into my lip swatch-a-thon!). The consistency was watery and thin with a quick dry down to a transfer-resistant finish. It lasted for four hours and was non-drying.

Formula Overview

The formula is supposed to have "medium coverage" and yield a "soft, diffused just-blotted look" that "dries matte, doesn't bodge, and feels soft and comfy on the lips." From the shades I've tried, the effect is exactly as described -- "a soft, diffused just-blotted look" with a matte finish. The consistency is thin but almost a little velvety as it spreads and dries down; it didn't feel as "wet" as most of their Liquid Lipstick formulas have. The formula dries down quickly and sets to a matte, transfer-resistant finish. The coverage varied from medium to semi-opaque, and the wear time was anywhere between four and six hours. The issue I have with them is the thinner, matte formula is more prone to emphasizing imperfections on my lips and lip lines. The formula is neither drying nor hydrating on me.

Holly Lolly is a muted, medium-dark reddish-coral with subtle, warm undertones and a flat, matte finish. It had medium coverage that applied fairly evenly, and the dry down wasn’t as unforgiving as most other shades in this formula have been for me–I applied this just prior to Chew-holic for reference! The texture was very fluid, watery, and thin, which was a little harder to control than I anticipated during my initial application. It wore well for four hours and was neither drying nor hydrating.

Juicy Drop

Juicy Drop is a light-medium, pink-red with cool undertones and a flat, matte finish. This was one of the most unforgiving textures I’ve seen on my lips in awhile; it made my lips feel dry, almost crusty, which is not a word I’d normally use as a descriptor for my lips (even on my bad days)–and worse, they looked that way. The color splinted into my lip lines, clung to imperfections and lip texture, and looked uneven on me. It had semi-sheer coverage that lasted for three and a half hours before fading unevenly to a noticeable degree. The formula felt drying over time.
